Workers United for Rights and Justice (WURJ) is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to promoting knowledge and understanding of labor rights throughout the State of Illinois. We work to ensure that workers have access to reliable and accessible information that enables them to make informed decisions regarding their employment and working conditions.
Our work focuses on the dissemination of information and educational resources on fundamental labor rights, including wages and hours of work, safe and equitable working conditions, the prevention of discrimination and harassment, and protection against unfair labor practices. Through our efforts, we seek to contribute to the strengthening of a workplace culture grounded in equity, respect, and dignity for all workers.
“Our mission is to empower and support workers by providing clear information, reliable guidance, and accessible resources that protect their labor and human rights, promoting justice, equity, and dignity for all people, regardless of immigration status, race, ethnicity, language, or social condition.”
"Our vision is a society in which all workers have equitable access to reliable information and guidance to exercise their rights, improve their working conditions, and live with dignity, free from discrimination based on immigration status, race, color, origin, language, or any other condition"
